CALIFORNIA EV & HYBRID BATTERY RECYCLING

California is the oldest and one of the largest electric vehicle markets on earth. When the first major wave of EVs begins to retire from roads, it will happen in California. We’re working now with dealers, dismantlers, and automakers to properly recycle and remanufacture these EVs for the first time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

1. What types of batteries does Redwood accept?

Redwood will accept all lithium-ion (Li-ion) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries in California from any dealer, dismantler, or anyone else who has a battery pack to recycle.

2. What happens to batteries today?

Today, there are limited pathways to recycle and remanufacture these batteries. While there are small operations occasionally interested in these batteries, auto recyclers & dealers often remove EV batteries and simply store them due to the limited number of recycling pathways available today. Redwood and our partners are working to change this.

3. What steps should I take if I have a pack to recycle?
